Infiorata of Noto

Every year, the third week of May is dedicated to the Infiorata of Noto. It isn’t a religious event, but the “Greeting to Spring”. Via Corrado Nicolaci is the street where the infiorata was born: a succession of “painted canvases with flowers” in the most fascinating street of the city.

The scenographic effect is intense. Here is the infiorata of Noto, one of the most important events in Sicily!

Then begins the first phase of artistic weaving with authors and flower makers intent on tracing with special chalks the silhouettes of the drawings, the first draft of the harmonious balance of shapes and colors to be realized.

A long scented carpet runs along the charming Via Nicolaci, under the chimeras, the sirens, the rampant lions,

the cherubs that peep with ecstatic amazement from the pot-bellied corbel of the homonymous palace.

A design filled with flower petals that plays, in the chromatic contrasts of the shades of red, white, yellow,

with the pink honey of stone, with the architecture of that visionary and magical Baroque that makes this city the highest expression of a civilization of enlightened men.

Colors explode against the enameled sky, the perfumes stun. Remarkable was his luck and the ability to attract a tourism that is increasingly demanding and aware of the choice of this itinerary in this season of the year.

Like every year, magic repeats itself.
