Sea Festival – Feast of San Pietro<\/a><\/span><\/h1>\n

Every year, at the end of June, the Sagra del Mare \u2013 Festa di San Pietro returns to Sciacca punctually, which is announced in the middle of the same month with the raising of the tricolor flag at the marina, the awaited event that will animate the neighborhood for 3 days Marina di Sciacca with its inhabitants, its customs and its centuries-old traditions.<\/p>\n

A party full of events that will bring the ancient fishing district of Sciacca to be the vital center of a city that has always been viscerally attached to its sea.<\/p>\n

There will be fish tastings, shrimp pans, music, neighborhood games, including the famous “Ntinna a Mari” and shows with a strong tourist attraction, which will frame the Feast of San Pietro, protector of the town’s fishermen.<\/p>\n

The Antinna a mari (or ‘ntinna a mari, sea antenna) is a traditional game that takes place during the feast of St. Peter: it is a long trunk, greased with soap and suspended almost horizontally over the waters facing the pier. The aim of the race is to try to reach a flag placed at the end of the ‘ntinna without falling into the water. Participants are forced to make countless attempts, with consequent dives into the water, before being able to reach the flag.<\/p>\n

Significant and moving, as per tradition, is the Procession of the Saint which takes place in the stretch of water in front of the Port of Sciacca. The statue of St. Peter, placed on a boat, will be accompanied by all the fishing boats of the Saccense fleet.<\/p>\n

In addition to a show area with top-level entertainment, there will be the presence of a vast Citadel of Taste which will give the opportunity to discover up close the excellence of Sicilian food and wine at km 0 and production activities.<\/p>\n

The Tasting Area will represent a tasty leap into the world of Sicilian food made with local products.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
