Ceramics of Sciacca

Sciacca is not only sea, spas and culture, but also craftsmanship. Sciacca is known for its ceramic shops. In Sciacca there are about 40 shops offering numerous “Majolica” such as: plates, dolls, furniture, pots, bottles decorated with blue, green, yellow, orange and turquoise colors these were and will remain dear to the ceramists of Sciacca.

The craftsmanship finds its maximum expression in the manufacture of majolica. There is evidence that local distilleries produced glass masterpieces (majolica) in 1282, and the majolica found in the wealthy noble palaces of Gela and Agrigento from the 14th to the 18th century are clearly attributable to the masters of Sciacca. With their works of art, the ceramists of Sciacca now occupy a prominent position at a national level.
