Sicilian Cassata

Sicilian cassata, product of Sicilian pastry, and more specifically of Palermo, it deserves the place of honor among the typical sweets of this region. Together with cannoli, almond pastries and pizzicotti; the cassata created to celebrate Easter after Lent sacrifices, has become common consumption throughout the year.

Sicilian specialties, apparently simple to make, requires a lot of skill in the preparation, especially to create the elaborate decorations with which it is widely provided is made of sponge cake, stuffed with ricotta cream and then covered with almond paste.
