Agrigento

(60 km) The Valley of the Temples, near Agrigento, is known throughout the world for its rich archaeological treasures, and is included in the list of World Heritage Sites drawn up by Unesco.

At the south-eastern edge of the Hill of the Temples, on the edge of the suggestive rise, the famous temples are placed in succession

of Juno Lacinia, Concordia, Castor and Pollux, Hercules, Olympian Zeus and Vulcan; they are the real symbol of Agrigento in the world.

In addition to the temples of Hercules, Jupiter, Concordia, Giunone, Dioscuri, Vulcano and Demetra, the Hellenistic Roman housing district should be highlighted,

the monumental complex with the “Cavea” of the Hellenistic Ekklesiasterion and the National Museum of Agrigento which allows you to have a more complete view of the Greek presence in the city.

Recently (2004) a Roman temple was also brought to light.

A visit to the Temples is a must for anyone visiting Sicily.
