Caltabellotta
(22 km) Caltabellotta is located about 1,000 meters above sea level, which is why it represents a real terrace on the Mediterranean. From the highest point, i.e. the accessible one, called “Pizzo di Caltabellotta”, you can enjoy a splendid view, divided between the sea and the mountains.
High above the houses of the Terravecchia district, perched on the crest, are the remains of the Norman Castle and the Church of San Salvatore, while on the other side of the cliff stands the Mother Church, founded by Count Ruggero to celebrate the victory over the Arabs, from the west side, the Hermitage of San Pellegrino, formed by a monastery and a chapel, dominates the view over the town.
