Scala dei Turchi

(48 km away) Realmonte is a small town in the Province of Agrigento.

An element of notable landscape interest is represented by the “Scala dei Turchi”,

consisting of a spur of white marl prominent on the sea,

whose slopes degrading into layers give it a very suggestive aspect with strong chromatic contrasts if one thinks of the blue of the sea and the sky contrasted with the blinding white of the rock.

The Scala dei Turchi is made up of marl, a limestone and clayey sedimentary rock,

having a characteristic pure white colour. This cliff with a singular appearance stands between two beaches of fine sand, and to access it you have to proceed along the coast and climb up a slope resembling a large natural limestone staircase. Once you reach the top of the cliff, the visible landscape embraces the coast of Agrigento up to Capo Russello.

The blue of the sea, the almost blinding white of the marl under the vigorous rays of the sun, the warm and comfortable air make it difficult to leave this paradise.
